A winning TikTok ad often speaks one language

Many TikTok ads look like someone talking into their phone. That person speaks one language, so the ad works in one market. A local remake means a new creator, a new shoot and a new ad that has to prove itself again.

    The usual way
    • Brief a new creator in each country
    • Re-record and re-cut to fit the new script
    • The original hook with translated subtitles
    • Rebuild the vertical edit for each market
    With GeckoDub
    • The same creator speaks the new language in their own cloned voice.
    • Each line is fitted to about the original speaking time, so the cuts still land.
    • The hook is spoken in the viewer's language, with optional animated subtitles.
    • The 9:16 framing, music and sound effects stay as they were.

One TikTok ad in, several languages out

1Upload the adExport it from your editor, ideally without burned-in text so translated subtitles have a clean screen, and drop it into GeckoDub.

2Choose languagesPick your languages and choose standard or HQ lip-sync.

3Review the hookRead the translated hook and call to action next to the original. On paid plans you can rewrite any line before it's voiced.

4Add it to TikTokDownload the new video and upload it to TikTok Ads Manager as a new creative.

GeckoDub does not post to TikTok. The free test uses about 15 seconds of the clip at reduced quality, so it's for judging the dub, not for running as an ad. Paid plans translate the full video at full quality, and let you upload several files at once.

Don't trust AI dubbing this close to the face? Good. Test it.

TikTok is shot inches from the camera. Upload the clip you think will break it: fast talking, music underneath, a product held near the mouth. Your 2 free test translations, about 15 seconds each, can use HQ lip-sync.

Same clip, product held in front of the mouth. Left: other AI dubbing. Right: GeckoDub.

Lip-sync that holds up in real ads.

Real ads have products, mics and head turns in front of the mouth. That's where most lip-sync breaks. GeckoDub is built for these shots.

We edit your real ad. We don’t generate a new one.

GeckoDub doesn’t create an AI avatar or a new video. It keeps your real footage, your products exactly as they are, and your real speaker with their own voice, cloned. Only the mouth is re-synced to the new language. That’s why it looks natural: it’s still your ad.

What TikTok advertisers ask before they translate

“The first seconds decide it. Will the translated hook still work?”

    The hook

You can read every line before dubbing and, on paid plans, edit it so the hook says what you want it to say. Each line is fitted to about the original timing, so it stays about as long as before.

    How script review works
“Will it still sound like the creator?”

    The creator's voice

The dub uses the creator's own voice, not a stock voice.

    “There's music behind the creator.”

    Music under the voice

Background music and sound effects stay; the speech is replaced. It is harder when the music is as loud as the voice.

“We test a lot of creatives.”

    Many ads

On paid plans you can upload several files at once. Each video in each language is its own translation.

Sound off? Your TikTok ad still talks.

Add animated subtitles in the new language, in your fonts and colors, placed clear of your product and the TikTok buttons. They are not available for Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Indonesian or Tamil.

Text on screen, Spark Ads and creator permission

    Text on screen

GeckoDub translates the speech, not the pixels. Text burned into the original video (hooks, stickers, prices) stays in the original language. Subtitles that GeckoDub adds are translated. For other text, export a version without it and add the translated text in your own editor.

    Spark Ads

A Spark Ad runs from a published TikTok post. The translated video is a new file, so it has to be posted first. If it goes on the creator's account, the creator authorizes that new post for your ads. If it goes on your own linked account, you can use it directly. You can also run the translated file as a regular, non-Spark ad.

    Creator permission

You need the speaker's permission to clone their voice and face, and videos featuring minors can't be used. Ask the creator before you translate.

    Format

The output keeps the source's resolution and framing, so 9:16 stays 9:16. A 1080p source gives the strongest result; 720p is the practical floor.

    Short ads, small token cost

Tokens are counted per minute of video and per language. A minute uses about 8 tokens for translation alone, about 20 with standard lip-sync and about 40 with HQ lip-sync, so Starter covers about 13 minutes of translation alone or about 5 minutes with standard lip-sync.

Yes, the video itself. The translated version is a new file, so it needs a new post: on the creator's account (they then authorize it for your ads) or on your own linked account. You need the creator's permission to clone their voice and face.
