What Google has said about video ad dubbing

Google described a "Video Ads Dubbing" tool in a Think with Google article in June 2025: it uses an existing video to generate "accurate, natural-sounding, and hyper-realistic audio dubs" in other languages, for example for video campaigns. The same article reports results for one advertiser, Amobear, which dubbed ads into German and Spanish. [1]

In August 2026, a second Think with Google article listed dubbing among Asset Studio's capabilities: "dub existing ads into multiple languages at zero cost". [7] In September 2026, trade press reported that the tool had appeared in Asset Studio for select advertisers, with 33 languages and locales. [3] [4] A Google slide posted by a Google Ads consultant whose client has access adds that Google's linguists review each dub and take revision requests, with delivery in about 3 business days. [8] As of 2026-10-28 we found no Google Ads Help Center article about it, and the help center's Asset Studio feature list doesn't include dubbing. [2]

Don't confuse it with two older tools: "Add voiceover" in Asset Studio turns a script you type into a text-to-speech voice-over [5], and Google's automatic AI voice-over enhancement works only for English accounts and assets [6]. Neither translates the speech in your video.

    Side by side

Google hasn't published help documentation for this tool yet, so several cells say "not documented" rather than guess. We'll update the page when Google publishes details.

When Google's tool may be enough

If you already see dubbing in your Asset Studio, your ads run only in Google video campaigns, and your target languages are on Google's list, try it first. It is built into Google Ads, Google says it is free, and its linguists review each dub before delivery. [7] [8]

Google reports one advertiser's result: Amobear's German and Spanish dubs went with a 45% higher click-through rate and an 8% higher return on ad spend in Germany, and 13% higher in Spain. [1] That is Google's case study, not an independent test, but it shows the approach can work.

When GeckoDub is the better fit

    You don't have access yet

Google is rolling it out to select advertisers only, with no public schedule. GeckoDub is self-serve today.

The same ad runs outside Google

You get a file per language that you can upload to YouTube, Meta, TikTok or your own site.

    Translating YouTube ads

    Someone speaks on camera

Presenter and UGC ads need the lips to match the new words. GeckoDub has lip-sync; Google hasn't documented it for ads.

    Translating UGC ads

You need to approve the words

Brand names, offers and legal lines must be right. With GeckoDub you review and edit the script yourself and lock terms in a glossary before anything is voiced, instead of requesting revisions and waiting days for a new version.

    How script review works

You need a language confirmed today

Google hasn't published its language list. GeckoDub translates into 48 languages, from German, French and Polish to Czech, Croatian and Romanian, and you can check yours in the free test.
