Does AI Translation Reduce Video Quality?

No. GeckoDub is built for zero-loss video quality: your translated file keeps the resolution, aspect ratio and framing of the source, and the localization touches audio and subtitles rather than degrading the picture. What comes back is your ad, in another language — not a compressed copy of it.

What actually changes

• The audio track — replaced with the cloned voice speaking the target language
• The mouth region — when lip-sync is enabled, only the mouth area is regenerated to match the new speech; everything else in the frame is carried over from your source
• Subtitles — if you enable them, translated subtitles are rendered onto the video

Background, product, wardrobe, lighting, body movement and the rest of the speaker's face all come through as filmed. There is no re-shoot, no avatar, and no reframing.

Where quality is actually lost

In practice, near enough every quality complaint about AI-translated video traces back to the input rather than the output:

• A pre-compressed upload. Exporting a compressed version to fit under the 500MB limit throws away detail before GeckoDub ever sees the file.
• A low-resolution source. Lip-sync works from the pixels available around the mouth; 1080p or higher gives the model far more to work with than a re-downloaded social export.
• A social re-upload. Pulling your own ad back down from a platform means you are localizing a copy that has already been through that platform's encoder.

Getting the best output

Upload the highest-quality master you have rather than a platform export, keep the speaker's face well lit and in focus, and avoid heavy motion blur across the mouth. Do the compression at the end, when you upload to the ad platform — not before you translate.
