What Is Smart Translation Control?

Smart Translation Control is GeckoDub's proofreading step — a built-in editor that lets you review and edit the AI-generated translation of your video before it gets dubbed. Nothing is voiced, lip-synced or subtitled until you approve the script, so corrections cost you a moment of reading rather than a re-render.

How it works

1. Open the editor — after upload, the video is transcribed and translated, and the segments appear side by side: the original transcription on the left, the AI translation on the right
2. Edit any segment — type your corrections straight into the translation box; the fit score updates live as you type
3. Approve and dub — click Apply Changes and Dub, and the voiceover, lip-sync and subtitles are regenerated from your edited script. For short ads this usually takes one to three minutes.

The fit score (0–100) tells you how well the translated line fits the time the original speaker took to say it. Languages expand and contract — a German rendering of an English line is often noticeably longer — and a low score is the signal to swap in a shorter synonym before the pacing gets tight. Editing the text does not change the voice: the same cloned speaker voice you generated initially is reused. Subtitles have their own Edit Subtitles button for text-only fixes.

What to check before you approve

• Product and feature names — anything the Custom Glossary doesn't already protect
• The hook and the CTA — the two lines that carry the ad
• Claims and numbers — pricing, guarantees and legal wording, which must be exact per market
• Long segments — where the fit score flags that the translation is running past the original timing
