How Is My Voice Data Protected?

Run by Slovenia-based 8logic on EU cloud hosting, GeckoDub keeps uploads for three months while you subscribe and one month after. Written consent for every cloned voice is your responsibility.

Voice cloning builds a model of a real person's voice, which under GDPR is personal data and needs to be treated as such. GeckoDub is operated by 8logic, a company based in Slovenia, so the service falls under EU data protection law by default, and accounts and content are processed on cloud hosting located in the EU.

    What happens to your audio

    1. Upload — your video is transmitted to GeckoDub over an encrypted connection
    2. Processing — the audio is analyzed to build the voice model used for the translated dub
    3. Third-party AI providers — relevant portions of your content are shared with AI providers solely to execute the localization, over enterprise API connections where, to the best of GeckoDub's ability, your data is not used to train their public foundational models
    4. Retention — your uploads and generated output are kept for at least three months while your subscription is active and one month after it ends, after which content may be permanently deleted
    5. Deletion — you can request deletion at any time by contacting GeckoDub; account data is deleted within 90 days of account closure, apart from records that tax law requires be kept

GeckoDub does not sell your personal data or uploaded content to third parties for marketing purposes, and GDPR rights — access, correction, deletion, portability — apply. The full detail is in the privacy policy.

If the voice you are cloning is not your own, you need permission. GeckoDub's terms require express written consent from every identifiable person whose likeness or voice is processed, and require that you can document it — the obligation sits with you, not the platform. Content featuring minors is not permitted.

For UGC and creator work, get voice and likeness rights for AI dubbing into the contract itself. A standard usage license often doesn't cover synthetic reproduction of the creator's voice.

    If you need more detail

Compliance reviews often ask for things the published policy doesn't spell out — the specific AI sub-processors used, encryption-at-rest details, or a signed data processing agreement. Ask support for those in writing before you upload client footage.
