How to Translate Product Demo Videos

Product demos are the highest-value videos to localize: they sit at the bottom of the funnel, stay accurate for months, and the same file works on your product page, in ads and in sales emails. The workflow differs from ad translation in one respect — terminology discipline matters more than tone.

Set your glossary before the first job

Product names, feature names, plan tiers and technical terms should never be translated inconsistently, and often shouldn't be translated at all. Load them into your Brand Kit glossary once and every language uses the same wording. This is the single biggest difference between a demo that reads as localized and one that reads as machine output.

Match the method to the footage

• Screen recording with voiceover — voice cloning alone. No face on screen means no lip-sync, which makes these the cheapest demos to localize.
• Talking head to camera — voice cloning plus GoSync lip-sync, or the mouth gives it away within seconds.
• Mixed cuts — the usual case for SaaS demos. Translate the whole file; lip-sync applies to the segments where a face is visible.

Plan for on-screen text

Translation changes the audio, not the pixels. If your demo shows an English interface or text overlays, you have three options:

1. Re-record the screen capture with the product set to the target language, if your product is localized.
2. Rebuild text overlays per language in your editor.
3. Let animated subtitles carry the key labels, and keep overlays minimal in the source cut.

Watch the pacing

Most target languages need more words than English. Where narration runs wall-to-wall against a click-by-click screen recording, tighten sentences in Smart Translation Control so the voiceover still lands on the step it's describing.

Localize the wrapper too

Title, description, thumbnail text and the page the demo sits on. A translated demo behind an English headline gets skipped before it plays.
