What is Proofreading in GeckoDub?

Proofreading is a built-in editor that lets you review and edit the AI-generated translation of your video before it gets dubbed. You see every segment side-by-side with the original, edit any word or line, and re-run the dub and lip-sync with your corrections.

What is the fit score next to each segment?

The fit score is a 0–100 measure of how well the translated audio length matches the original scene timing. Higher is better. When a translation is too long for the scene and would break the lip-sync, we flag it in red so you can shorten it before re-rendering.

Does the cloned voice stay the same after I edit?

Yes. Edits don't change the voice clone — the same speaker voice you generated initially is used for the re-dub. You only change the script, not the voice.

Does editing the translation require re-uploading the video?

No. The original video stays in place. Only the translated script changes. When you click Apply Changes and Dub, the AI regenerates just the voiceover, lip-sync, and animated subtitles — the video itself isn't re-uploaded or re-encoded from scratch.

How long does Apply Changes and Dub take?

Usually 1–3 minutes for short ads, depending on video length and how many segments you changed. The platform only re-renders what's affected by your edits.

Can I edit just the subtitles without re-dubbing?

Yes. The video preview panel has a separate Edit Subtitles button for caption-only edits. If you only want to fix on-screen text without re-running the dub, use that instead of Apply Changes and Dub.
